A desperate whisper into a phone was all officers needed to know something was terribly wrong. Dispatch received a 911 call with only muffled breathing and the word “help” before the line went silent.
With no time to waste, officers raced to the address tied to the call. When they arrived, the house was dark, the door slightly open, and there were clear signs of a struggle inside.
They pushed in, calling out, listening for any sound. Then they heard it — a faint cry coming from a back room.
Inside, officers found a woman being assaulted and immediately intervened. The suspect tried to flee but was taken down within seconds. The woman, shaken and injured, was pulled to safety and given medical care on scene.
Her quick thinking to dial 911 — even without being able to speak — and the officers’ rapid response saved her life.
A terrifying situation turned into a rescue… just in time.
