FORT PIERCE, Fla. (Gray News) – Three people were killed after a semi-truck made a U-turn on the Florida Turnpike on Tuesday.
According to WPTV, a semi-truck tried to make a U-turn at an “Official Use Only” turn and crossed in front of a minivan in the left lane.

The driver of the minivan was unable to avoid the semi-truck. The semi-truck and trailer “jackknifed and came to rest on top” of the minivan, according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office.
WPTV reports that the 30-year-old driver of the minivan and his two passengers, a 37-year-old woman and a 54-year-old man, all died.
The driver of the semi-truck and the passenger were not injured.
